If you have fond memories of Diablo I when it launched, you're in your 30's and 40's right now, and your kids think the games you used to play are ancient. There's no business case to revive HoTS as we know it in 2023 with it's core technology and the nostalgia factor of the games it references are firmly rooted in the past decade. WoW is in decline, development on SC2 is finished and Diablo III is in its twilight years. In 2023, the SC2 engine will be 14 years old.To revive the game, you need that, but you aren't going to do a major staff rebuild in the middle of a corporate transition year. It doesn't have a full-fledged development team. It has staffers part-time allocated to it in the middle of doing something else, and things like art that are now outsourced whenever possible.
